What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device through your browser. They allow a site to function, to remember preferences or, in other cases, to collect information about browsing activity.
A distinction is drawn between strictly necessary cookies, which are indispensable to the operation of the service, and all others, whose use depends on the user’s consent under Article 5 of Portuguese Law no. 41/2004 of 18 August.
Cookies used on this website
This website uses a single cookie:
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| pll_language | Records the language you selected — Portuguese or English — so that browsing continues in that language. Set by the website’s multilingual component. | 1 year | Functional, strictly necessary |
This cookie contains no personally identifying data, does not follow the user across other websites, and is not shared with third parties. As it is strictly necessary to provide the requested service, its use does not require consent.
A session cookie may additionally be set by the platform underlying the website, exclusively when an administrator signs in to the management area. That cookie is never set for visitors.
What this website does not do
As at the date of this policy, the Empa-T website does not use:
- Analytics or audience measurement cookies, including Google Analytics;
- Advertising, remarketing or commercial profiling cookies;
- Social network pixels or tags;
- Interactive maps, videos or other embedded third-party content;
- Third-party cookies of any kind.
Links to social networks are plain hyperlinks: they transmit information to the operator concerned only when the user chooses to click them.
External services that set no cookies
The website displays its text using typefaces served by Google’s infrastructure (Google Fonts). When a page loads, the browser connects to Google servers to retrieve those files; in that connection the user’s IP address is transmitted and may be recorded.
This connection sets no cookies and does not, in itself, allow the user to be identified or a profile to be built. It appears in this policy for transparency as to the data transfers that occur during browsing.
How to manage or delete cookies
You may inspect, block or delete cookies at any time through your browser’s settings, usually under privacy or browsing data.
As this is a strictly functional cookie, blocking it does not prevent use of the website: it will simply mean that your language preference is no longer remembered between visits.
Changes to this policy
This policy is updated whenever there is a change to the cookies used or to the services embedded in the website. The date of the most recent update appears at the beginning of the document.
